Quotes on Education & Technology
I’m working on my workshop for FAAPI, and I found these fantastic slides from Tony Vincent on Slideshare. Not only they were excellent food for thought (at least for me) but I also believe once in a while it’s good to refresh our memory about what really matters. My favorite quotes were the Chinese proverb and Piaget’s…and of course, the last one on teachers being replaced by computers. It is so true: “Any teacher that can be replaced by a computer deserves to be”. There are so many teachers out there who are afraid that technology will replace them, when it’s the exact opposite: it empowers them! Specially in our case, EFL teachers, where the possibilities are endless. Nowadays our students can have access to authentic materials, not to talk about contacting native speakers, which was almost impossible when I went to college. Anyway, just thought you’d enjoy the slides. Thanks Mr. Vincent, whoever (and wherever) you are.
