I heart Eco-Safe!

I am the kind of person who sighs and apologizes to nature when having to put plastic in the trash (recycling still not big in Argentina, although some NGOs are making admirable efforts) so when I saw the possibility to do some “cyberactivism”, I just loved it!

Maybe you have noticed a badge on one of my sidebars that encourages you to download a pdf instead of printing. Well, the people at Eco-Safe are the ones who had this wonderful idea. This is what their site says about the badge:

“We can change the world by using each of our own unique voices. By placing the ECO-SAFE Merit Badge on your website or blog, you are using your voice and empowering others to participate in environmentally friendly behaviors on the web. The ECO-SAFE Merit Badge is a symbol of hope and love for the world we all live in.

Websites displaying the “ECO-SAFE Merit Badge” are providing environmentally friendly printing alternatives for their website visitors. As a collective group of people who use the Merit Badge, we are actively reducing the staggering number of web pages printed daily.”

Of course, I had to give it a try with my intro page to see how it looked. Well, I was really amazed! I’ve used PDF converters for some time now to save images of websites instead of printing (Best I’ve found so far is CutePDF) and they never save a perfect copy; they’re good but not as good as the page looks online. Well, the Eco-Safe badge did a great job! Check it out:

I hope you use it, and if you’re a blogger too, follow this link and add any of the great looking badges like the one below to your page too.
