Digital Rolemodels

What is a digital rolemodel to me?

It’s somebody who has mastered one or more aspects of teaching using technology; who can inspire me to be a better teacher, a web2.0 proficient person. Here go some of the people I’ve found on the websphere that I consider just AWESOME…

Kim Kofino

21st Century Literacy Specialist. Amazing wiki! Her blog is also fantastic, and if you’re looking for an example of how an e-portfolio should be like, stop looking! Part of her teaching philosophy:

My philosophy of education is to provide an inquiry-based, constructivist approach; helping students how to learn and instilling processes for lifelong learning through the use of project-based learning experiences developed using the Understanding by Design process. I feel strongly that when students are more active and involved in their education, and when those experiences mirror the real-world through authentic curriculum design, it becomes much more meaningful. I aim to make my classroom a comfortable place where students can feel at home”.

Cristina Costa

She’s a wonderful EFL teacher, a peace activist and Webhead member. I have learned so much from her e-portfolio and from the videos she selects on her Learning Journey!

Vance Stevens

I met Vance through the EVO workshop on Multiliteracies. He’s one of those people that inspires you to be a better teacher every day.

Who is he? In his own words: “Vance Stevens teaches computing at Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi. After a 20-year career in English language teaching, usually as CALL specialist and coordinator, he worked in software development in California as educational technology consultant, before returning to the Middle East as ed tech coordinator for a language school in Abu Dhabi. There he founded the online community Webheads resulting in involvement in many community-based online professional development endeavors which have formed the basis of his professional development life this past decade.”

Check out his profile and CV. It’s impressive!

Also, if you want to know what he’s up to lately, here’s his blog. Check out his podcasts too, those are a real treasure.
