Butterflies Project
1. Listening/Writing
Students watch a clip about butterflies’ metamorphosis (whole video found here). They take notes about the process and complete a graphic organizer, which can be found here.
2. Speaking/Listening
Comprehension questions & retelling: what happens to the butterfly during metamorphosis?
3. Reading/Speaking
We read “Chrysalis Diary” – a poem about a butterfly. Students practise reading the poem aloud. Then connect what happens to the butterfly on the video to the poem. The poem can be found here.
4. All skills:
Students work in groups and create a powerpoint presentation that illustrates a butterfly’s metamorphosis, using images from the internet. They include sound to their presentation, reciting the poem on the powerpoint show.
